Knight Foundation Grant to Support Community’s Ideas Through the Knight Neighborhood Challenge, College Hill Alliance
MACON — Macon will take a major step toward revitalizing College Hill with a new $5 million grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The grant includes $3 million to the Community Foundation of Central Georgia to fund residents’ best ideas for transforming the neighborhood, and $2 million to Mercer University to form the College Hill Alliance.
The College Hill Corridor Commission, Mercer University, and the
City of Macon invite you to join us in Mercer Village at 10 am on
Monday, June 22, for a press conference announcing an important step
toward progress in the Corridor.
It would especially honor us if you—who have been with us since the
beginning, participating in our public meetings, committee projects,
and events—would join us to share in our excitement!
We’ve completed the database of students (high school and college)
available for short term work this summer. Whether you need a
babysitter, house sitter, or help in the yard, we have a number of
young people eager to help out. We’ve begun sharing the information
with neighborhood associations and it is now available on our website.
Remember, we do not endorse or otherwise recommend anyone listed; we
just want to be a vehicle for matching workers up with folks who need
the extra help during summer months!
